Cozy Hobbit Life Sim Tales Of The Shire: A Lord Of The Rings game promised a relaxing world where players could enjoy a more peaceful side of the Lord of the Rings franchise. But sadly players will need to wait a little longer before they can escape to Bywater.

Tales of the Shire was originally supposed to launch in 2024 but was then postponed until the 31st March 2025 and has now been further been delayed until the new launch date of 29th July 2025.
In an image posted to their social media accounts, Wētā Workshop announced they would be taking a little longer to ensure everyone "can enjoy the same cosy experience" and that they want every detail to be just right.
Hopefully this means they'll be ironing out a few more bugs and making the game the best it can be for when it releases in July. Plus, let's be honest, with Inzoi, Wanderstop, Two Point Museum, and more launching next month, we're grateful to have one less title to squeeze in!
Tales of the Shire is due to launch on PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on 29th July 2025.
