Do we really need to Date Everything? A Review

The short answer is, YES! Date Everything is a ridiculous concept but it's also a really well developed one.
Date Everything Overview
Sassy Chap Games teamed up with Team17 to deliver us a truly absurd game and the title says it all. You can literally date EVERYTHING.
You play as a shut-in who loses their job to AI on their first day. Shortly after, you receive a mysterious package from an even more mysterious sender. Enter the Dateviators (Date Aviators). Put on the Dateviators and the real fun begins! You first meet Skylar who are the Dateviators themselves (and yes, you can romance her as well). She gives you a quick rundown of how the Dateviators work and you're off to meet all your potential lovers. Why are we in this situation? Who sent the Dateviators? Play to uncover the secrets behind this unassuming looking game.

Date Everything Features
The game features 100 fully voice acted romancables all voiced by some of the biggest names in voice acting! Think of people like Matthew Mercer (Overwatch, Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Persona 5), Eric Bauza (TMNT, Looney Tunes, Bob's Burgers), Laura Bailey (Fruits Basket, The Last of Us Part 2, Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical), and Troy Baker (The Last of Us, Uncharted 4, Baldur's Gate III) to name a few.
Date Everything understands that some situations can be uncomfortable. Content Aware is the solution! Upon engaging with the first potential trigger situation, Skylar will appear and explain Content Aware. Basically the game has an adjustable setting where Skylar will intervene before any potential triggers. You can turn it on and use it when needed. For example, if a character's story includes drugs and that triggers you, Skylar will skip the conversation and the game will ask you how you would like your relationship to resolve. You can then choose if you want that character to love you, be your friend, or hate you without ever speaking to them.

Switch 2 vs PC
Ok, so the game didn't technically release for Switch 2 but with the Switch 2's backwards compatibility, I had to test both versions!
Date Everything does run on the Switch 2! But it's a little fuzzy due to lower quality images to accommodate the original Switch's graphical abilities. I didn't play on my Switch 2 long as the lower quality images actually started to hurt my eyes. I wear glasses and I was still straining with the blur around the text boxes.
On the other hand, the PC version runs smoothly and looks incredible. I had a blast playing on my PC with a controller and on my Steamdeck. I didn't encounter any crashes or glitches (minus the intended one) while playing.
The PC version is far superior to the Nintendo Switch version on the Switch 2. In all fairness to Sassy Chaps, I did not test the game on the intended Switch. I hope we get an enhanced Switch 2 edition (maybe with new dateables).
Date Everything Review
At first glance, Date Everything seems like a ridiculous dating game lacking substance. You know what they say about judging a book by its cover. While Date Everything is a ton of ridiculous fun, there are also hidden secrets.
I had a blast finding all the romanceables and still I struggle to pick a favorite. Each character's personality is so unique and it's a full cast of quirky characters. Some of the characters will definitely annoy you but there is someone for everyone.
I've played 20 hours of Date Everything and I still haven't fully unraveled the mystery of the game. Technically I did accidently beat the game though probably not as intended. I'm excited to dive back in for more dating fun!
